Winter Touring in the US + UK

Hello everyone, this is Jordan from Mutual Benefit. I ended up consolidating the band mailing list and my personal newsletter since Tinyletter is shutting down. That means that the band mailing list will stay the same and you don't have to do anything but if you want to continue reading my monthly personal reflections and recommendations you'll have to subscribe here for $1 a month. I find the project to be a fun behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and subscribing is a good way to support the band in a time that is hard for working musicians so please consider it if you can!

Mutual Benefit is finally going on tour to support Growing at the Edges! We'll be doing a run of shows down to Florida and back in February as well as a concerts abroad in France, Belgium, and the UK in March. The European shows were booked through our agent, Matt, but the US shows were self-booked so thank you so much to everyone who made it happen, it was a huge group effort.

I did a somewhat wide ranging interview recently with Felix from Told Slant/Florist for Talkhouse. We got into some topics that are important to me like learning how to have an art practice in a time where we are subtly pressured by online metrics to tweak our sound and personality to get more clicks. It reminds me of Naomi Klein's excellent new book Doppelganger where she refers to herself as a "failed brand". Anyway, this is a rare interview of mine where I think we sound halfway smart, haha.

In the spirit of DIY, I have taken over the shipping and webstore for my records so if you want a LP, CD, cassette, some leftover tour shirts, or a preorder of the 10 year anniversary edition of Love's Crushing Diamond you can find them here. Unfortunately the Growing at the Edges cassettes are delayed at the factory but I'm hoping to have that figured out soon, sorry to all who are still waiting.

I'm back to updating my Stellar Transmissions playlist every week or two with mixes with special consideration going to new releases made by friends. I'm hoping to eventually put it somewhere besides Spotify so more people can access it but in the meantime the allure of technological ease is winning out.

Thank you for reading and for sticking with me as I make this slightly awkward newsletter transition. I hope you consider subscribing at the $1 a month level to get my personal newsletter but either way thank you for reading the band updates, it means a lot! Always feel free to reach out if you have anything to share.
